When did you start working out at Highway 54 Pilates and Why?
I started with Highway 54 Pilates in April of 2016. I chose Highway 54 Pilates because I was looking for more. I had tried the Y and Yoga and neither one gave me the one on one help I needed. Amie treated me very respectfully when we met and four days later when I arrived for my first class I found out she had done research on my condition and knew at least as much about it as I did, probably more..
Describe your workouts. How many days a week do you workout?
I take two reformer classes each week, either walk on my tread walker or my elliptical two times a week.
What is your fitness goal?
To continue to gain strength and improve my flexibility, and hopefully begin to reduce some of my pain.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
I have been able to get stronger, according to my condition I should not be possible, my hope in the beginning was to simply slow down or at most stop the progression so I’m thrilled at the improvement I have made.
What helps you stay on track?
The fact that no matter how bad I feel when I walk in to the studio I always feel better in some way after a class. Amie’s encouragement and the support of others in the class.
What do you do when you’re not at the studio?
I enjoy spending time with my husband, I work in my gardens, sew, quilt, and embroidery, and of course sitting and reading a book with one or more of my cats on my lap!
Do you have a favorite exercise or favorite piece of equipment?
I have a love hate relationship with the 100! I like the new foot and hand exercise that we are learning.
Describe our studio in 3 words.
Strength, Confidence, and Compassion
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting Pilates?
Do it for yourself, do it now.
The longer you wait, the more help your body will need.
